What Membership Category do I fall under?
There are 7 categories of ordinary membership, these are:
Member
Any person who is actively engaged in the delivery of public works and services may be admitted as a Member. This person may be a professional (e.g. Engineer, Planner) or non-professional (e.g.: technician, supervisor) staff member or consultant to an organisation or public agency engaged in the delivery of public works and services.
Rural member
This category is for members who would otherwise qualify as ordinary members but are working in a municipality which is outside of the Greater Adelaide metropolitan area. Some minor restrictions on membership benefits may apply.
Fellow
Any member who has been a member continuously for a period of at least five years may be designated a Fellow by resolution of the Membership Committee in recognition of outstanding service to the Institute.
Emeritus Member
This grade is the highest that can be bestowed on any member. The National Executive awards it on the recommendation of a State Division.
Retired Member
This category is available to members who have retired from the workforce but wish to remain associated with the institute.
Honorary Member
This grade is limited to persons the State Board considers worthy of the title, and is not necessarily limited to persons who fulfil the definition of Member. Eligible persons must have given outstanding service in the field of public works and services or have given particular assistance to the Institute. An Honorary Member may be elected for a specific limited period of time.
Student Member
This category is for students studying for a three year diploma or four year degree course in a discipline relevant course at a nationally accredited University or TAFE College. Student membership is time limited, and has some minor restrictions on membership benefits.
