IPWEA (SA) announced the winners of its 2011 Excellence Awards at the Annual Dinner on 27th May 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Adelaide.
This year’s IPWEA (SA) Excellence Awards attracted a record number of entries, highlighting exciting developments in planning, design, construction and management of community assets.
Project Awards
Excellence in the design and/or construction of a Public Works Project sponsored by Catcon
Due to the considerable diversity, and consistently high quality of projects entered, judges were unable to separate the top three finalists, and decided to award equal honours to all three! As a result the award honours were shared by:
- The City of Salisbury for the "Unity Park Biofiltration Project"
- The Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure and Fulton Hogan York JV for the "The Northern Expressway Project" and
- The City of West Torrens for the "Brooklyn Park Rain Gardens - Beachway Avenue."
The City of Onkaparinga and Leed Engineering "Waterproofing the South - Christie Creek Upgrade" was also highly commended.
The judges comments on the projects revealed the features which made these projects stand out, noting of the various projects the “outstanding example of the innovation that is occurring in Local Government engineering”, an “emphasis on collaboration” and “the commitment of all involved in the project to ensure the best outcome”.

Two projects received high commendations with each project being acknowledged for their 'detailed planning and co-ordination, and their adherence to budget and strict time lines'.

- The City of West "Torrens Road Safety Group Mock Crash Demonstration" and
- The City of Tea Tree Gully "Montague Road Upgrade".
Excellence in Asset Management sponsored by Maloney Field Services
Winner
The City of Onkaparinga for “Implementing service standards for integrated water resources asset management” the judges noting that the plan “recognises the ever increasing complexity of the water engineering assets”.
