The aim of the Road Safety Speakers Bureau (RSSB) is to raise the
profile of road safety by increasing IPWEA members’ exposure to road
safety issues of professional interest at IPWEA Group meetings. The
IPWEA is active through thirteen regional groups around the state. These
groups meet quarterly (approximately) to review IPWEA business and
remain informed on professional matters of interest. The RSSB
commenced in 2003 and is funded by the Motor Accidents Authority.
The program commences its sixth stage in 2008, and has been successful
in placing road safety experts at IPWEA group meetings. These speakers
have presented at regional and metropolitain meetings. A survey of the
IPWEA Group Secretaries indicated that there had been some change in
the profile of road safety issues discussed at Regional Group meetings
since the implementation of the RSSB.

Vision and Driving
Stage 5 of the program has been completed. Stage 6 of the RSSB is to commence on the 1st July 2008.
Opportunities are still available to access high profile speakers on
road safety topics of interest for Stage 6 July 2008 - June 2009.
The speakers list has been compiled on the advice of IPWEA Group
Secretaries, who nominated topics of interest to their members. Some 22
speakers with relevant experience are now available to present on road
safety topics at regional meetings.

Evaluation
Over the past three years, each meeting coordinator has been asked to
complete an evaluation questionnaire following a presentation by one of
the Bureau’s speakers. Evaluations have been positive. Two groups have
had speakers on three occasions and three have had speakers twice. The
repeated use of speakers from the RSSB indicates the relevance these
speakers have had to IPWEA members who attend regional meetings.
