IPWEAQ presents Awards each year to encourage excellence in the innovation, development, completion and management of local government and public works projects.
IPWEAQ members from councils and organisations are invited to nominate people and projects in the categories listed on the Engineering Excellence Awards Dinner Invite. Nominations should not be constrained by project and/or council/organisation size, and each entry will be judged on its merits.
Categories
There are two main categories that can be entered within the IPWEAQ Excellence Awards. The Judges may elect to award an overall IPWEAQ Winner judged from all entries.
People Awards
- IPWEAQ Engineer 2012
- IPWEAQ Young Engineer 2012
- IPWEAQ Technical Officer 2012
- IPWEAQ Works Supervisor 2012
- IPWEAQ Woman in Engineering 2012 (from any category)
Winners in this category are awarded an educational opportunity.
Project Awards
- Design and/or Construction of a local government/public works projects
- Projects over $10 million
- Projects $5 million to $10 million
- Projects $1 million to $5 million
- Projects under $1 million (assistance with Nomination is available)
- Innovation and/or Introduction of New and/or Improved Techniques
- Road Safety
- Asset Management projects which address best practice and in particular show a whole of organisation perspective
- Water, Waste Water, Sewerage and Drought Management (sponsored by Queensland Water Directorate)
- Projects over $10 million
- Projects $5 million to $10 million
- Projects $1 million to $5 million - Projects under $1 million (assistance with Nomination is available)
- Innovation and/or Introduction of New and/or Improved Techniques
Winners in both categories are awarded a special plaque (Council) and a Certificate (Project Manager). All projects must show they have addressed environmental issues.
Winning projects and people may be nominated by the IPWEAQ Board for the National Local Government Engineering Medal and the National Emerging Leaders Award respectively.
