This course had been developed specifically to provide local government road designers, civil construction contractors and asset managers with a better knowledge of the inspection and maintenance of timber bridgeworks. This two day course will provide participants with knowledge of how to practically combine relevant information from the best practice bridge management documents to assist in the inspection, maintenance and management of timber bridge assets in a local government context. PPE, such as safety footwear and high visibility clothing is required on Day 2 for the bridge inspections.

This program covers the administration of local
government contracts and the basic elements of Contract Law. Administration of
contracts applies to contracts being carried out by internal or external
providers and the program will look at the process from the selection of the
contractor through to practical
completion. The basic elements of Contract Law, including some features and
changes in standard form contracts will also be provided. Current requirements
and foreshadowed developments for NSW public sector contracting will be covered
with particular reference to local government.

IPWEA (NSW) AUS-SPEC Workshop
This one day seminar will provide attendees with up to date information to allow them to make the best use of the AUS-SPEC specification and contract document set as produced by the IPWEA / NATSPEC Joint Venture.
Attendees will be better equipped to prepare quality documents and contracts with more confidence and in a shorter time frame.
The program is designed for who has responsibility for urban development, design and construction specifications, period supply contracts and specifications or service level agreements for road, parks and buildings maintenance.
This would include: Architects, Building Supervisors, Operations Managers, Parks Superintendents, Facility Managers, Contract and Project Managers, Development Engineers and Maintenance Managers.
Your presenter is Bill Woodcock, B.E. LGE, Grad Dip LG Mgt, MAITPM. (Reg), is a Civil Engineer who has been in the Local Government Industry for more than 35 years.
As co-author of many of the AUS-SPEC series he has a thorough understanding of the documents and their use.
Bill has taught and assisted with the full implementation of the document set as well as having presented technical papers to Local and International Conferences.

A Pilot - 2 day Plant School in the area of Armidale on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th July 2012. This event previously ran in 1999, there has been a high level of support and interest to reinstate this event.
This would consist of seminars on Trafic Management, Road Safety and Roadside Environment issues. The onsite practical training are in the areas of Grader Operations, Bitumen and Heavy Patching and Compaction and Stabilisation Techniques.
The evening dinner will have a keynote speaker addressing "Are you Ok?" and issues relating to Alcohol and Drug Testing.

The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (NSW Division) would like to invite you to participate in the 2012 IPWEA NSW Works Officers conference, to be held at the Novotel Pacific Bay Hotel in Coffs Harbour from Wednesday 17th to Friday 19th October 2012.
The IPWEA NSW Works Officers Conference typically draws delegates from all over New South Wales, metropolitan and regional areas are always represented. This conference is of particular relevance to Works Officers who provide support within Local Government and attracts an audience consisting of Works Engineers, Project Managers, Overseers, Superintendents, Foreman, Coordinators and Supervisors.
The conference is a two day event, featuring an extensive conference program, including an exhibition space along with conference presentations, delivering two streams of technical papers, peer presentations and workshop sessions. On Wednesday night, we open with a welcome reception. The official opening is Thursday morning, followed in the evening with a themed dinner and Works Officer’s Awards are a key attraction.
