Organisational Champions will talk to potential IPWEA members and gain their agreement to join IPWEA as well as encourage current members to retain their membership (particularly around membership renewals time). |
Your assistance, as an Organisational Champion, will take no more than 1 – 2 hours per fortnight and there are some great benefits to you, for assisting IPWEA.
The Qualities we seek in an Organisational Champion:
- You are currently a member of IPWEA. You are passionate and sincere about your profession.

You understand what IPWEA does, as a membership-based organisation, what IPWEA stands for and what the membership eligibility criteria is for IPWEA.

You have the ability to devote a small amount of your time on a weekly/fortnightly basis to explain the benefits of IPWEA membership to potential members (between 30 to a maximum of 60 minutes) and network with members and prospective members.

You are prepared to assist new members to gain the most from their IPWEA membership.

You are prepared to encourage current members to actively participate in IPWEA activities and events.

You are willing to encourage current members to upgrade their IPWEA membership status.

You are willing to assist in retention programs with current IPWEA members, particularly around membership renewals time.

You are willing to provide information to IPWEA and assist with changes where necessary, when current members move to (or from) another location.

You will be available to attend Communication Skills (certificate) Training Program, for four hours, on 28 or 29 October 2010.

You possess enthusiasm and the desire to be successful in this role.

You provide directors (and senior management) with reasons to commit to IPWEA – by creating support, sharing a vision and making them aware how IPWEA will be of benefit to the
What IPWEA will provide you with:

All necessary forms to (a) sign a new member up; and (b) assist members who are moving or transferring.
Membership upgrade materials to facilitate a seamless, easy transfer of professional membership status.
- A complete set of IPWEA marketing and promotional tools and resources.
- Communication skills training, eg building rapport, asking quality questions and presentation skills.
- A professionally managed Organisational Champion online forum – where you will be continuously updated, offered guidance and be given the opportunity to offer feedback and suggestions.
- Network and support mechanisms eg NSW, Other Councils and Regional Groups, IPWEA. Full contact details of IPWEA chairpersons and secretaries, mobile and email contacts for your Regional Group.
- Visible recognition that you are an IPWEA Organisational Champion (eg badge, jacket, cap).
- All promotional material will be:
- hard copy
- on a USB
- Data base information for current IPWEA members in your Council, new IPWEA members that transfer to your Council and recently resigned members (that IPWEA is aware of).
- Written recognition of your status and value to IPWEA, relevant information concerning your leadership potential (to add to your CV).
- major networking opportunities at Regional/other meetings, consideration for a Foundation Grant tour (eg APWA or NZ Assets).
