There are many practitioners working in public works, parks and
engineering departments with responsibility for parks management and
open space planning.
The focus of the seminar is developing better awareness and
knowledge of asset management for parks and recreation.
The objectives of the seminar are to:

- Provide a networking opportunity for practitioners involved in parks
management
particularly addressing the needs of local government

Brian Milne
Brian has 25 years experience in all facets of parks, recreation and
community facilities management. He was previously Recreation Manager
for Waimakariri District Council and senior parks and facility
management roles with the Tauranga District Council. Brian has been at
the forefront of the development of asset management practices for the
parks and recreation industry and was the industry representative
(1999-2003) on the NZ National Asset Management Steering Group (NAMS)
and for development of the 2001 International Infrastructure Management
Manual. |

Jayson Kelly
Jayson has 22 years experience in amenity horticulture and parks
management. Jayson managed the parks activity for Dunedin City Council,
responsible for maintenance and professional services contracts; capital
projects management, Parks Activity Management Plan, and liaison with
community & user groups; also Chairman of Council's Natural
Environment (Strategic Plan) Working Party. At a national level Jayson
was a founding member on the parks benchmarking ‘Yardstick’
committee; member of the NAMS parks levels of service reference group; a
National Executive member for the Royal NZ Institute of Horticulture;
and Chairman of the NZ Gardens Trust. |
